War on "Terror"

By now, we've all seen or at least heard about the recent South Park episode, in which the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is portrayed (in a bear suit), and the reaction it has garnered from a fringe-radical group, Revolution Muslim. Needless to say, the media's portrayal of this controversy has been sub-par, but what else is new, right? In part 1 of this 2-part post, we learn a little bit of background on the issue, as well as analyze the mainstream media's response to the controversy.
