The Gaza Freedom March may have passed, but Palestinians in Gaza continue to march for their freedom on a daily basis. They are protesting the illegal, Israeli buffer zone, pretty much every day now and the IDF has not held back in their response. Today, a young Palestinian protester was shot and killed by an Israeli bullet, while peacefully protesting the theft of his land.
16-year old boy shot dead by Israeli snipers

This afternoon the Israeli military killed 16-year old Mohammad Qadus from Iraq Burin, a village south of Nablus, with a live round on his heart. A second youth, Asaud Qadus, 19 years old, was critically injured after being shot in the head. Mohammad was trying to carry Asaud to safety when he was hit.

The Canadian Indian residential school system, founded in the 19th century, were created for the sole purpose of forcing the assimilation of the Aboriginal (First Nations) peoples into western, "civilized" Canadian society. Basically, this system of schools, which was jointly-controlled by the churches and the federal government, believed that indigenous children needed to be "civilized" in order to assimilate into modern, western, Canadian society. They aimed to achieve this goal by forcibly taking young children (as early as 6 years old) from their homes and placing them in residential schools.

Dear Mr. President Barak H. Obama,
We, citizens of 43 countries, gathered in Cairo in December 2009, to travel to the occupied Gaza Strip to show solidarity with Palestinians who endured a massive and inhuman Israeli assault one year ago. We wanted to show them that we, citizens of the world, remember what our governments want us to forget: we remember that human beings live in the Gaza Strip. Men, women and children: mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, grandmothers and grandfathers: people like you and I.
Gaza Freedom Marchers issue the “Cairo Declaration” to end Israeli Apartheid

Gaza Freedom Marchers approved today a declaration aimed at accelerating the global campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli Apartheid. Roughly 1400 activists from 43 countries converged in Cairo on their way to Gaza to join with Palestinians marching to break Israel's illegal siege. They were prevented from entering Gaza by the Egyptian authorities.
What can we do? Boycott!

The first thing we can do to stop oppression is to stop aiding it. I would like to tell you to boycott taxes, but the movement is just not there yet.
